Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Between September 2022 and January 2023, Alma de América. Pre-Columbian Art and Myth came to the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in an exhibition that was a major institutional success, with the Spanish-American consulates accredited in the islands in attendance.

The show also achieved one of the Pérez Trespalacios Collection’s great goals: bringing pre-Columbian art and cultures closer to new generations. An ambitious educational programme, with visits from Tenerife’s schools and secondary schools, workshops and educational activities, turned the exhibition into a space for knowledge, discovery and participation. This extraordinary outreach effort is one of the greatest sources of pride in the collection’s history.
